Using A Bong

If you are using cannabis and want to make sure that you are getting the smoothest experience, you might want to think about using a bong for your consumption. Many people choose this method as it is easy, enjoyable, and provides a unique experience. The hits from this method are often described as clear or crisp, meaning you get to taste the bud itself without too much of the smoke or the burning sensation that blunts, pipes, and other methods often give.

Generally speaking, using a bong requires water, cannabis, the bong itself, and a lighter. You can also use ice and some people use different additional items to make the experience more fun. A screen over the bowl to make sure that nothing falls in the water is recommended as it will compromise the quality of the hit.

You fill the bong to the fill line, or to the point where the tube from the bowl is fully submerged with cool water, do not use warm as it won’t taste as good.. Do not fill it to the top as it will get everywhere. You may need to experiment with your personal device to make sure it is submerged enough but not going to splash up in the mouthpiece and leave you with a mouth full of nasty water.

Pack the bowl, determine if the stem can be pulled out to allow more air in once you have started pulling, and then smoke away. Be careful if you do have a pull out stem to make sure that you don’t spill ash or knock out the cherry. Replace the stem once you have enough smoke and then consume.

Using Ice

Adding ice makes the smoke going into the lungs colder, making it easier to take larger hits. This can be a useful way to get more cannabis in a hit if you need more pain relief or just want a stronger high. This generally produces more of a body stone, so if you are more of a mental high person you will want to stick with just water.

Ice is added before water and generally makes up about half of the volume of the entire mixture. You can keep adding ice as desired, but make sure to pour out water once in a while to make sure you don’t get back splash.

Cleaning Your Bong

Keeping your piece clean will ensure that you get the cleanest hits. Pour out the water after each use and rinse with hot water. If you notice resin starting to stick you can use rubbing alcohol to clean more thoroughly before rinsing with more hot water. Store empty and allow to air dry.

For many people a bong represents the lowest maintenance form of smoking and provides ample pain relief to people who consume cannabis for medical reasons. It’s an easy to share method for when you have friends over and then tend to come in a variety of different sizes and shapes that can be fun to collect.
